Hôtels à Sabadell

Sabadell

Sabadell has an industrial past that fills its landscape with chimneys, vapour and factories. Starting from one of the hotels in Sabadell we have booked, we can enjoy a visit to Catalonia's end of the century' industrial expansion.

What to visit?

Sabadell's city centre has some of the area's best kept Modernist façades. The footprint left by the Catalan industrial and bourgeois revolutions is visible all around the city.

Modernist local architect Juli Batllevell's designs are all over the city, and his are some of Sabadell's most iconic buildings; Hotel Suís, Despacho Lluch, and Enric Cassas school are the most important examples of the heritage he left to the city. Also, the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall), Teatro Principal (Main Theatre), and Mercado Central (Central Market) are Modernism influenced buildings.

The industrial route, which we will start from one of the hotels in Sabadell, will show us 45 chimneys that are kept all over the city. We will begin visiting the Vapor Codina, an industrial complex, whose façade and chimney are kept intact. The visit continues in the factory house Turull, which nowadays harbours the Museo de Arte de Sabadell (Sabadell's art museum). Unnim building, designed by Jeroni Martorell, stands out thanks to its majestic patio with stained glass windows. The Torre de l'Aigua (Water Tower), the Hornos (Kilns), and the Escaiola-Cal Ventura ceramics workshop or the Vapor Buxeda Vell are some of the best examples of industrial architecture that we can enjoy in our visit.

But Sabadell is not only about industry. Its famous Sant Fèlix bell tower, from the 18th century, offers spectacular views over the city and its surroundings. The church's apse, built in the 15th century, is the city's oldest construction.

During our tour around the city, after leaving from one of the hotels in Sabadell, we will visit the Castillo de Can Feu (a castle), Sant Oleguer's ice well, and many chapels and hermitages, such as Sant Nicolau and Sant Pau de Riu-sec, or the Salut park. The mills located in Ripoll's river park, from the 10th century, are also worth a visit.

Festivities in Sabadell

The main local festivities are Aplec de la Salut, in mid-May, and the Fiesta Mayor, in the beginning of September, so we recommend booking your stay in advance in the hotels in Sabadell.
